Founded in 1887 by two world-renowned chemists, Claus Porto is the oldest and most distinguished soap making factory in Portugual. Continuing the legacy of using the highest-quality ingredients and paintsaking methods to produce the most luxurious bath products available is still the priority for the family and this 117 year old company.
While other soap companies have modernized their methods and use lesser ingredients in order to increase volume and decrease cost, Claus Porto's approach is the opposite: this family believes that quality is more important than speed, that a high-quality product is worth the price of making it so. Claus Porto soaps are milled seven times for a rich, creamy lather ("milling" is the process of mixing the soap, passing it through the mill repeatedly until the fragrance is distributed evenly and air is forced out), making each bar of Claus Porto soap as dense as possible, without splitting or cracking. Then each soap is air-dried on racks for weeks to ensure that the consistency is even throughout, instead of using hot air blowers that will dry the outside but make the inside soft and more prone to break. These steps ensure that each Claus Porto soap is long-lasting and gives a rich lather and luxurious fragrance throughout.
Claus Porto soaps are made of coconut oil and shea butter to moisturize skin as they clean. The fragrances come from essential oils found only in Grasse, France, home to the finest fragrances in the world. Claus Porto soaps are all-natural, 100% biodegradable, and never tested on animals.
