Jars Ceramistes ceramics are vitrified, this means that they are fired at extraordinarily high temperatures - up to 2340 degrees Fahrenheit - which fuses the glaze to the clay producing a scratch-resistant, chip resistant and non-porous piece of dinnerware. What sets Jars apart from other stoneware manufactures is their use of reactive glazes that are reminiscent of animal, vegetal and mineral substances. The unique glaze finishes are breathtaking and no finish is completely alike. Some glazes produce a rain effect on the surface with many colors in the same palette showing through, while others create a crackled or even textured appearance that is completely non-porous.
