Handmade in South Africa, Mustardseed and Moonshine ceramics are beautifully packaged and completely functional - safe for use in a conventional oven, microwave and dishwasher. Founded by Kate Carlyle in Cape Town, South Africa in 1992, Mustardseed and Moonshine celebrates her love of the botanical form. The idea was to make beautiful ceramic flowers that were both usable and lasting, flowers that were meticulously crafted, and yet simultaneously robust and functional. Although the company has grown over the years, it remains a studio of dedicated artists and the pride that goes into each piece is tangible. The Daylily Navajo cup and saucer was selected as one of "Oprah's Favorite Things."
Mustardseed and Moonshine teapots are an example of the fine craftsmanship being exported from South Africa. Mustardseed and Moonshine teapots are inspired by botanical forms and are meticulously handmade and hand-painted. Each teapot is made of high-fired earthenware that is thin and durable enough for everyday use. The high-fired earthenware is so resilient that it is dishwasher, oven and microwave safe. When you purchase a Mustardseed and Moonshine teapot you are purchasing an original. Due to their handmade production, all pieces are unique; no two are alike!
