About the Collection
The Jay Strongwater collection is the creation of artist Jay Strongwater. Born as Jay Feinberg in 1960, he changed his name to Strongwater, the Anglicized version of his mother's maiden name, Starkwasser. Strongwater studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and began designing jewelry for top tier retailers during his sophomore year of school.
In the early 1980's Mr. Strongwater became a jewelry designer for Oscar de la Renta's runway collections. Strongwater credits de la Renta for pushing him to explore more ornate artistry with crystals and stones.
In 1995 Strongwater crafted his first picture frame using the materials he would normally reserve for jewelry making. He gifted the frames to buyers and editors that holiday and was quickly encouraged by the gift recipients to put together a larger decorative collection.
Today the Jay Strongwater collection includes picture frames, figurines, compacts, clocks, ornaments, trays, trinket boxes, bar accessories and more...all hand adorned with beautiful Swarovski crystals and semi-precious jewels accented with a rainbow of unusual colored enamels.
